Canada's heat wave in June caused by climate change

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the extreme heat in Eastern Canada in June and hot temperatures experienced in the west and north were driven by human-caused climate change. ECCC has examined the data for June and July 2024 heat waves. Analysis has shown that the human-caused emissions and climate change made the heat waves more likely, influencing these events two to 10 times more likely to happen. Extended heat waves with temperatures over 10 degrees higher than normal generated wildfires, droughts, and the thinning of glaciers.

Climate change doubled the likelihood of extreme fire conditions, with high temperatures, low humidity, and droughts. These heat waves caused by climate change make it easier for wildfires to spread, and intense heat makes lightning more likely to occur. During the 2021 heat wave in BC, active wildfires increased from 6 to 175, with fires consuming the entire town of Lytton.

With the increasing emissions, these heat waves are many times more likely to occur in the future, causing many more disasters. Reduce your emissions and convert to a more sustainable lifestyle. Borrum Energy Solutions offers the Anorra wind turbines for cottages, tiny homes, and rural dwellings.
