Canadian 2024-2025 Uranium Statistics

Uranium Information:

Uranium is a silvery-white metal that is mined and milled to be used as fuel for nuclear reactors that generate electricity. It is not renewable, but it is a non-carbon emitting electricity source.

Canada is 2nd in world production of uranium (15% of 49.4 kt), 2nd in world exports of uranium (14% of 42.6 kt), and 3rd in known recoverable resources of uranium (10% of 6.1 Mt).

Canada produced roughly 7.4 kt of uranium from mines in Saskatchewan, it is valued at around $1.1 billion.

20% of the uranium is used domestically, the remaining is exported throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

Nuclear power is the second largest contributor of non-carbon emitting electricity in Canada, it provided 13% of Canada’s total electricity needs (52% in Ontario).

Canada is 6th in world nuclear power generation, Canada generated 3% of the world’s 2,487 TWh.

Borrum Energy Solutions designs microgeneration wind turbines and towers that leverage non-emitting but also renewable wind energy. They provide an opportunity for rural dwellings to reduce propane/diesel costs while lowering emissions and dependence on the electrical grid.
