The Value Behind Borum’s Wind Turbine Generator: Reliability

Wind turbines are an effective way to power your home, cottage or tiny home, but their performance ultimately depends on the generator behind them. At Borrum Energy Solutions, our generators are built for reliability and durability, specifically to handle Canada’s extreme and unpredictable climate.

One of the key challenges in these environments is condensation. For example, if the outside temperature is -20°C with no wind, the generator’s internal temperature will match that. Once the wind picks up and the generator begins operating, internal temperatures can rise to 50–70°C. These fluctuations create condensation inside the sealed enclosure, which can lead to electrical shorts, reduced performance, and eventual failure. Borrum generators are designed with built-in condensation protection to prevent this, ensuring consistent and reliable operation over time.

Our generators are also engineered to manage heat effectively under high wind speeds and high blade RPM, preventing overheating during peak performance.

In addition, each unit features a fully aluminum enclosure, which improves cooling performance while providing strong corrosion resistance. Sealed bearings further enhance durability by protecting against weather exposure and extending overall bearing life.

These design elements work together to ensure Borrum wind turbine generators operate reliably across a wide range of temperatures and conditions.
