Quebec is running out of energy supply

Quebec is running out of power. In the past years, industrial development projects have been rejected by the province Energy department because Hydro Quebec does not have enough energy to supply them.

According to the article, Quebec’s estimates and assumptions on its demand projections were faulty. The actual surpluses were far less than had been believed and that its supply would run out by 2027.

In the past year, large development projects that required 21,500 megawatts of power have been rejected by Hydro Quebec. Smaller firms are being rejected to access to electricity that they need to grow their business, and other large projects are being selected depending on priorities.

The province’s potential is being restricted by Hydro Quebec’s inadequate demand planning. The updated plans the government comes up with still fall short.
