Renewables in Action: Shaping the Future of Energy

Renewable energy technologies are driving the global shift away from fossil fuels, placing them at the heart of the energy transition. Solar and wind energy are making significant strides, but they aren’t the only players in this critical shift.

Hydropower and geothermal energy, mature technologies in the renewable sector, have long been reliable power sources. Hydropower, which dates to the 19th century, remains the largest contributor to renewable electricity generation globally. Geothermal energy, which has been around since the early 20th century, also continues to grow.

The real stars of the energy transition, however, are solar and wind energy. Solar energy, with its skyrocketing global capacity is leading the charge. In the last decade alone, the cost of photovoltaic electricity has plummeted by 82%, making solar more competitive than ever. Wind energy is also seeing rapid expansion.

Emerging technologies such as marine energy, hydrogen, and advanced storage systems are on the horizon, promising to revolutionize how we harness power from the natural world. Wave, tidal, and temperature-differential technologies are still in the experimental stages but hold immense potential. Hydrogen, though not an energy source, could be a game-changer in decarbonizing heavy industry and transport.

The common denominator for all these options is the electrical grid. Will governments make the sizable investments to increase the capacity of the grid to support the increased demand?

Borrum Energy Solutions is committed to playing a key role in this transition. Their wind energy solutions are designed to power a sustainable, fossil-free future while reducing the electrical grid dependency for rural homes, cottages and tiny homeowners. They’re proud to be part of a global movement towards renewable energy.
